CLA INSiGHT SCANS & HRV TESTING

What Are CLA INSiGHT Scans?

Traditional chiropractic exams rely heavily on what the doctor can feel and what the patient reports. CLA INSiGHT scans go further — providing objective, measurable data about how your nervous system is actually functioning.

These scans are non-invasive, painless, and safe for everyone — adults, pregnant women, children, and newborns. They take just minutes and give us information that no hands-on exam alone can provide.

INSiGHT Scanning Technology

Our scanning suite includes three core assessments:

Surface EMG (neuroEMG) — Measures the electrical activity in the muscles along your spine. This tells us where your body is holding tension, compensating, and working harder than it should. Balanced muscle patterns indicate a well-functioning nervous system. Asymmetry and elevated readings indicate stress and subluxation.

Thermal Scan (neuroTHERMAL) — Uses rolling infrared thermography to detect temperature variations along the spine. These variations indicate areas where the autonomic nervous system is dysregulated — showing us where your body is struggling to maintain homeostasis.

Heart Rate Variability (HRV) — Measures the variation in time between each heartbeat. Healthy HRV indicates a nervous system that adapts well to stress. Low or imbalanced HRV suggests a system stuck in sympathetic dominance — fight-or-flight mode — with limited adaptive capacity.

Together, these three scans create a comprehensive neurological profile.

Why Objective Neurological Testing Matters

Symptoms are subjective — they come and go, and they don't always tell the full story. Someone can feel fine while their nervous system is under significant stress. Someone else can be in pain while their nervous system is actually improving.

CLA INSiGHT scans give us the data to see what's really happening — beneath the symptoms. This means we can identify problems before they become symptomatic, build care plans based on findings rather than guesswork, track progress with measurable benchmarks, and know when your nervous system has reached a new baseline.

How We Use Your Scan Results

After your initial scans, Dr. Collin or Dr. Kara will walk you through your results at your Report of Findings visit. You'll see exactly where stress is showing up in your nervous system, how your body is adapting (or not), and what your personalized care plan looks like.

We rescan at regular intervals throughout your care to track progress and adjust your plan based on how your nervous system is responding.

  •  They're a suite of non-invasive scans — surface EMG, thermal scanning, and HRV — that objectively measure how your nervous system is functioning. They provide data that guides your care plan and tracks your progress.

  • Yes. The scans are completely non-invasive and safe for all ages, including newborns and pregnant women.

  • They show where stress is accumulating in your nervous system, whether your body is in a balanced or fight-or-flight state, and how effectively your body adapts to daily stress.

  • X-rays show bone structure. INSiGHT scans show nervous system function — muscle balance, autonomic regulation, and adaptive capacity. They provide different but complementary information.
